yes to the firearm term. Most states consider it a long gun. 18 to buy etc but I dont think you have to do the forms like you do for a rifle or shotgun. Course NJ and CA and a few others are still pretty restrictive. someday some nut job will do something haneous with a smokepole then they too will be subject to the grabbers
