Antique Pocket Watches What I Would Want To Know

Antique pocket watches, we have all seen them, particularly if you are a fan of old English movies or Sherlock Holmes films you would have seen one. A watch made out of some form of precious metal, silver or gold or even in some cases steel with a cover to offer protection to the screen and a chain attached to it instead of a strap which was attached to the pocket or belt or even placed in ones pocket.

At that time, the idea of a minute hand itself was enough to be certifiable much less to a cartable watch since at the time clocks only had an hour hand alone anyhow. As time went along more alterations were made until they even in the 1700's added jewels as bearings in the watches to prevent friction and wear between metal parts.

one particular to note is that the first set of pocket watches weren't made with coverings to protect the watch but later it was that cases were made of dear metals to protect the watch. Also if you come on a watch whose cover does match, the manufacturers placed their logo on the case as well , the watch then it's a replacement and not the original.

Though made in the 1700's it is awfully unusual to find one before 1700 itself and considering to date it is over three hundred years, that's to be expected. They're usually kept as an heirloom passed done from generation to generation which is an element of the reason why they still exist. And the best they're usually still in correct working condition and still prepared to be used.

These things though extremely valuable infrequently are sold in garage sales, flea markets, etc through the ignorance of the owner to the price for infrequently a few dollars. Could you imagine meeting upon a ten thousand buck watch being sold for ten USD, well, it has occurred before. Though many are still in existence, if you where to look, thanks to the sturdy materials used to make them, which by the way makes them that much more valuable, if you come across one, take it not lightly.

ok i bought this old looking cross. its like on a flat piece of wood and they put a picture of jesus on the crucifix, but it has like a little sticker on the back that tells you who made it...fom what i can read it says.....
