History of the Peridot Gemstone

Peridot is a word which is came by the French word peritot. Its meaning is gold; this is because it can vary towards this color. It is birthstone for the month of august. It is very popular to give this stone to celebrate the 16th year of marriage. In the year 1500 BC Ancient papyri record the mining of peridot stones. The main source for peridot was Topaz Island. In the olden days these stones were used for carved talismans. The habitants of island were forced to collect these stones for the Pharaoh's treasury. The miners who works with these stones has to work both in the daytime and in the night time, because the gem could be found only at the night time due to their radiance.

 

In general, the miners will mark the place of the stone and they will continue their work in the daytime. It is the national gem of Egypt. Most of the Egyptian knew that it was a the gem of the sun. It was mined on St John's Island over 3,500 years. In the year 1905, the gem production was peaked. It was named as chrysolite. in the olden times. The name was used as chrysolite because the people in that time did not have the ability to identify the stones. The word also used for some colors of topaz until for the people to identify the difference between these two stones. At the time middle, the Europeans brought the stones to decorate the church plates from the crusades. The three holy king's art cologne believed that it was an emerald but later in the last century it was identified. To find the stones in the shade of green it is better to look in Egypt and Burma. The production of these stones has reached outstanding in recent years.

some of them would be alright, but some of them are WAY out there!
I know I personally wouldnt want to be named after MY birthstone.. I think it would be a little weird for me..
