What would have happened to human evolution if.....?

If we had the same brains, knowledge and skills but were a lot smaller in size..like the size of an action man (or GI joe doll in American, Ken and Barbie doll size). Would we have succeeded and been the same as we are? Take into the equation that everything else stays the same size (trees, animals, the continents, the oceans, cats, dogs, birds etc.). or would we have died out or been eaten?

If we were small, there would be intense natural selection against large brain size because we couldn't afford the energy to grow and maintain a large brain. As size decreases, surface-to-volume ratio increases requiring greater food consumption to compensate for the energy lost.
