joining girl scouts? what do i do?

i'm 13 and i want to join the girl scouts. what do you do? also i don't want to embarrass myself so like what rankings are there? i know the brownies and daisies, but what do i start off of? what kind of uniform would i wear and my friends, who is in the same grade, is in it...would i be with her?

You will be a Girl Scout cadette.

Go to the Girl Scouts of the USA web site and look for the council that serves your state. You can join right through that web site. When the Girl Scouts contact you, ask if you can be in the same troop as your friend (you need to have her name and, preferably, her troop leader name). There is a membership fee, but if you can't afford it, that's fine. And you don't have to buy any uniform at all - that's optional.
