What is the best kind of wood for bunk beds?

I've heard Pine... The bunk beds are for my kids, I don't have a lot of wood working experience. Pressure treated wood or is that primarily for outdoor projects? Is Whiteboard the same as PINE?

Do NOT use pressure treated. This is for exterior use only - it releases gasses that would be toxic indoors!!! Use a hardwood - oak, ash, birch, maple, cherry. If pine, use a hard southern yellow pine, not a white pine...it's too soft to be sturdy. PLEASE be careful when building a bunk bed DIY - your children's safety is nothing to play with. Please get good guidance from construction needs from Home Depot or Lowe's.
