I need a book to teach me about small motors: ones I can put in my cloth dolls and animals to animate them.?

I design and make fabric dolls and animals and recently have become fascinated with the idea of animating them. But I know nothing about the types of motors I need to put in them. Everything I've tried to search under yields way too sophisticated things such as robotics. I'm looking for simple; like whatever they use in these dogs that walk or the Elmo I just saw that wiggles his hands and feet, holiday characters that move their arms and turn their heads.
