A question for all you doctors and nurses.?

I have been a nurse now for a little more than a year. I work in a hospital. It seems like I have been sick more in one year than my whole life. Colds, viruses, diarrhea, etc. Is it because I'm exposed to so many sick people or am I not washing my hands enough or is it that my immune system is not up to par like I need to be eating better or taking vitamin supplements. I worry about taking something home to my kids. How long does bacteria and viruses live if I have it on my clothes? Also, my husband is NEVER sick. So that makes me feel like the problem is within me. Tired of being sick.

Surely you learned that bacteria is ubiquitous in nursing school and its when bacteria get where they don't belong do they cause problems. Hospitals, however, have the greatest transmission of infections. Return to your texts and look this stuff up like degerming, airborne transmissions, etc. When you get home, promptly shower and change. Take care of yourself (nutrition, exercise, etc) and try to keep your immune system strong. Good luck.
