Toys for Tots -- 2010 Donation Results!

The holiday season is a great time full of love, family, and gift giving. However, it can also be a time of stress and worry for people and families that are struggling. Life can be a tough roller coaster of ups and down, and all of us can relate to that on some level. Perhaps one of the greatest and most trusted charity organizations operating during the holidays is Toys for Tots. Tracing its origins back to 1947, Toys for Tots has been bringing great holidays to parents and children for decades now.

One reason for the faith, trust, and success of Toys for Tots is that is the official charity branch of the United States Marines. It is great to see the Marines in full uniform collecting donations during the holiday season. Often we forget about both the families who are struggling and the families who are sacrificing to protect our country and freedom. Seeing the Marines during the holidays reminds us to think of others and donate what is comfortable for each of us.

One of the best aspects of Toys for Tots is that your donations stay local. You are literally giving to your community and we find that fantastic. As of 2009, Toys for Tots has donated a staggering 500 million toys! That is a phenomenal number that is only possible due to people's profound generosity and trust in the United States Marines.

At Radar Toys we believe and participate in Toys for Tots for our community. Each child deserves a great holiday and helping struggling families relieve some of that burden is something realistic that we can do every year. This past year, 2010, marked a great turning point for us here at Radar. We reached just under eight hundred dollars in donated toys for our community of Lane County, Oregon. We could not have done it without the generosity of many, many people in our area.

We would like to thank with genuine kindness the following people: The staff and patrons of the Emerald Lanes Bowling Alley for their generous donations, time, and use of their venue. Your donations made the difference this year! Richard and Mary Jo Goosman for their hard work and dedication in driving the charity effort this year and years gone past. Lane County thanks you greatly. The United States Marines for continuing dedication and great work. And last, but not least, we would like to thank you: the customer, the neighbor, the worker, the mom and dad --- for giving what you could. You made a difference this holiday in your community. You didn't get to see it, but somewhere a child was filled with wide eyes and glee this holiday because of your generosity. And somewhere, a mother or a father felt the love of their community.

So thank you. Thank you for helping make 2010 the biggest year yet for Toys for Tots donations in Radar Toys history. We are excited and filled with hope for 2011. You can count us in again this year to participate in the best and most highly respected holiday charity out there -- Toys for Tots! Thank you Lane County! Go Ducks!
