The Rise of Cobra - Final Judgement

Ah, another G.I. Joe action figure line to goggle/and or/argue over. These delightful figures are not much different than their older versions, except with a few upgraded designs and articulation improvements. This line was inspired by the 2009 movie The Rise of Cobra.  The movie itself was exciting for us, however it fueled much debate over whether it was good -- or just good enough. We were just happy for a new G.I. Joe movie and a renewed interest in the franchise of toys. Accompanying the release of the movie was waves of great figures -- 25th anniversary figures -- among the actual Rise of Cobra merchandise. These newest Rise of Cobra figures may have been scrutinized, torn apart, and argued about for many reasons by avid G.I. Joe fans, but eventually the consensus comes to the same conclusion; that these figures are fun, better articulated, and a step in an exciting direction. For us, The Rise of Cobra figures were the victim of bad packaging design. An ugly packaging setup can hamstring an exciting line of toys right out of the gate. In the same token, a superb graphic package can do wonders for other less detailed figures.

A great deal of the scrutiny stems from the fact that these newer Joes just aren't like the older ones. Hasbro set out to update and improve upon the line. Attempting to make it more presentable for the modern day looks and needs of what we expect with an elite fighting force. They've improved upon the amount of accessories, the types of weapons, detail, and articulation. Figures are not limited by the accessories they wear or carry and they have improved balance being able to stand in action poses easily. Awesome. We have looked over an example of one figure to give you an idea of the changes to look forward to -- if you decide to forgive all the Rise of Cobra criticisms about the movie and the packaging design.

Beach Head:

Beachhead figures have always seemed to be one of those characters that are popular but never get the attention in detail or accessories that they should receive. Fear no more! This Beachhead has a new clean looking mold with simple but great detail that only seems noticeable when he's resting in your hand. Aside from the nice looking figure, he has a treasure box full of goodies to strap on and weapons to use. He comes with five different guns, including  an advanced assault machine gun, scoped rifle, full-on assault rifle, machine gun with silencer and what looks like a semi-futuristic scoped laser rifle! These are complimented by a pair of binoculars, two knives, flippers, gas mask, 6 ammo clips, two gas grenades, a vest with fifteen pouches and some computer thing on his leg. All we can say in summarizing this figure is -- awesome! Beachhead was always the man, now it's official.

In summary -- the Rise of Cobra figures make it essential for older G.I. Joe fans to really step out of their comfort zone and look at these figures closely before passing judgment on them. New G.I. Joe fans are past this already and enjoying this new generation of very playable figures. We think these figures are appealing for every fan from ages four all the way up to the ancient Joe fans out there. Change will always come and most changes tend to be good. Packaging art comes and goes, but great accessories, better articulation, and more detail are never a bad thing. The exclusive sets out there are a treat as well as many vehicle packs and 5 figure packs. Forget movie opinions and bad packaging, enjoys these figures and see what's new and better about them.

Trying to find a 1980's doll - I don't remember the name?

I'm trying to find a baby doll I used to have. I'm not sure if it was Mattell, Hasbro, or ?? It had a plastic head with short, blonde hair; and a soft body that you could blow air into the sides of it, and when you squeeze the sides the arms would flap up & down. She had a blue colored jumper/dress. That's all I remember. PLEASE help me find her. (
