American Girl Brings Grandmothers And Granddaughters Together

Being a grandma is a joy. I actually believe my stunning grand children are my reward for all those horrible teenage years spent with my daughter. My only girl was a wonderful, loving young girl, but boy, was she a dour, sassy and just plain grouchy, teenager. It's superb how having kids of your own helps you appreciate your own mum again.
Their roles have taken them halfway across the nation, all the way to California. They adore it there, and it is fun to visit, but I still would much rather have my folks close by, here in Chicago. We have been planning this trip for months now and high on the list to do is visit the american Girl store where each grand child will get to pick her favourite American Girl doll and accessories. We actually have a special lunch planned at the american Girl caf. I suspect I am more excited then they're for this special visit.

T. Pleasant Rowland created this clever line of dolls back in 1986. She created a well-made line of dolls and then had them brought them to life through a collection of traditionally correct, entertaining and sometimes-sad stories told thru kid-friendly books. These dolls and their stories are deftly designed to be idols for young girls, their stories are not all about cheerful endings - things go screwy and folk die - and little girls essentially learn from the stories. Besides the historic characters, other lines of dolls have been introduced, including the Girl of the Year and Just like You. And, of course, there are entire lines of traditionally correct accessories to select from - furniture, clothing, luggage and much more. For weeks now, my grand daughters have spoken about which doll they are going to pick. I understand from my child that this has even led straight to some disagreements, over who gets what. currently my eldest granddaughter is reasonably fixated with one of the newest editions to the american Girl line, Rebecca.

My nine-year-old grand child is convinced the American Girl of the year doll is exactly what she wants. She loves the idea that this doll is only available this year and after that, nobody else can buy it. This year the doll is named Lanie and she adores outside. What a cool way to urge girls to be active.

And naturally, my youngest grand daughter is kind of enamored of Kaya, a Nez Pierce girl being raised in 1764, as she currently loves all things Indian.

naturally, it actually doesn't matter to me which doll sets they select. I know the experience of visiting the American Girl store and selecting their dolls and stories will be one that not one of us will ever forget.

Which DOLL?

I'm going to American Girl Place in NYC this summer I have
Samantha, Marisol, Kaya, Felicity, Addy,and a American Girl Today (or Just Like You) dolls. I cant figure out which one to bring so far I've narrowed it down to the top three I am going to pick from which are Kaya, Felicity, and my American Girl Today.... so which one out of these three?!
ps: i already have these dolls im just tryin to figure out which one to bring to american girl place in new york
