Doll Patterns to Human Sizes?

I've seen that human patterns can be scaled down to fit dolls, but can they be scaled up to fit humans? I found a pattern I like, and I would like to scale it up for a cute Halloween outfit.

Is this possible?

It may well be possible, but it'll take you some time and may require purchasing or making graph paper in different sizes.

It's an old enlarging trick they used to teach in art classes. Trace your pattern onto graph paper of a particular size. Decide on the percentage of increase you will need, and then get graph paper that size. (If you need it to be 4x bigger, you get or make graph paper with squares 4x bigger than what you have.) Then, you copy the pattern square by square. It is possible, but it's tedious and time-consuming.

You might also check out Simplicity's and McCalls' websites. They have tons of good costume patterns. You might find something in a human size that would need a little altering or fiddling-with, but not nearly so much as converting a pattern from tiny to normal.
