The holidays can be a tough time of year for all parents. The amount time spent baking, making arrangements with family and friends, and deciding on presents that are worthy of spending hard earned money on. Sometimes these toys are worth every penny and sometimes these toys are just expensive and take up space. We feel your pain! We make recommendations from time to time about toys that we think are worth the money and provide a level of creativity and interaction that is above the competition. To put it simply -- it makes us feel good when we like what sell and can recommend it without reservations. The particular line of toys that we recommend this year are the 'decorate your own' line. From Stock Cars to Jigsaw Doll, to Paint your own Rubber Duck, we can't help but notice how much kids like them and how surprised adults are by this. We suspect that many parents think like we do and want to buy what their child wants for Christmas, which is fine and normal. Everyone needs a Wii or PS3 nowadays, but for those younger kids that haven't quite reached that high bar of expectations from Santa Claus, this line of creative toys is a great buy. We did quite a bit of questioning with parents to find out why they were so shocked that these simple, yet creative toys, were such a hit with the kids.Their main response was that they didn't expect them to be such a hit because they are so cheap! These toys spark their creative side, which is always good, but also keeps their attention because the toy they are painting or decorating is actually interesting to them. Most of these toys are between 5 and 15 dollars, which is a great price point. Melissa and Doug also make some similar designs for older kids or teens as well.

Living Dead doll/ eBay help?

I am running mega low on pennies right now. I have a series 5 mystery Living Dead Doll collecting dust. Could someone advise me how much I should put it on eBay for? or maybe a minimum reserve? thankies

I thought maybe I could help, so I decided to answer you. I have been selling dolls on ebay and rubylane.com for many years now.

Do a very good picture of each doll, with all in focus

Show from and back and with clothes and no clothes, and face detail

Sell one at a time

Look at completed sells for the doll type you are selling you will see the price sold at for the past several weeks

Make sure you get the doll in the correct category when listing, with the correct words in the headline for the search engines

Make sure you have bubble wrap and a box large enough to ship safely, weigh the items together so the buyer can figure what the postage including the insurance in the shipping price. Its more expensive to ship across USA from one coast to another, than in your same region. postage does go up I believe on the 22 of January 2010.

Be honest in your description and have a return policy.

Start the doll at 9.99

The reason for that is that it will attract people who are hopeful and you will get a good price for the doll. Do a 7 day auction. Start it on a Monday evening that is a good time for east coast and west coast.
