Where can i find a cheap BJD, ball jointed dolls?

Hello. My sister is so dear to me, and she really wants a BJD (ball jointed doll, not to be confused with BJ) But, I'm in a tight spot with money right now, so what can I do? I saw a real one on ebay for 85$ (buy it now) should I get it?

Anything for $85 is either one of the cheapest tiny BJDs (about the size of a Barbie doll or toddler the height of Barbie or even smaller) OR not a BJD at all. On Ebay many sellers add BJD to the title and description on dolls that are not BJDs at all. BJD means Ball Jointed Doll and it doesn't just mean joints that might look light balls. Ball Jointed Dolls are elastic-strung of all individual body parts which have ends that are shaped like balls or cups (sockets) and that's how the pieces match up. But on Ebay sellers might call all of the following BJDs even though they are not: Obitsus, Volks 21-27cm, Momoko, Blythe, and assorted other jointed plastic dolls that are built over a bendable wire armature.

This would be easier of you provided a link to the BJD you saw for $85. I can tell you if it is a BJD and I can tell you how big it is. I am pretty sure the tiny Hujoo and the tiny Resinsoul BJD run about $85 though that may be without faceup and nude. Bobobie might also have an inexpensive tiny. But if your sister is asking for a more typical BJD size like about 43cm or about 60cm, there are none for $85.

And the two links the commenter above gave you are the same ones I would give you because if you are in the US and can buy from a US reseller then the shipping will not be outrageous.

I do not know much about the plastic Hujoos for under $40 but they come nude with no makeup at the Hujjo site in Korea. Here you can see all of the inexpensive ones they have. I looked at one of the basics (Berry) and in her photos she looks like a real BJD based on the bent view of her double-jointed knees, but plastic. Nice deal for an inexpensive BJD. However, I would look for a US seller like http:/www.junkyspot.com/ or http://www.denverdoll.com if you are in the US, and either can probably order what you want if they don't have it. If you order from Korea the shipping could be over $20 for a small doll.

BTW - Jun Planning sold Lati-look plastic BJDs over the last several years but they seem to be limited, dressed, expensive, and possibly not customizable (I don't know). They are called Jun AI or Jdoll AI and I saw a couple on Ebay.

But I think for a nine-year old if you find get a basic plastic Hujoo with a faceup then it's a good choice for her age. I don't think they are allowed on Den of Angels forum but she's not old enough for that forum anyway.
