What are the requirements for a Duck House?

What is required for ducks in terms of a coop? Do ducks perch, do they need a perch in the house? Do they need a separate place to lay eggs from where they sleep, like chickens do?

Ducks do not perch, but they are messy as they will bathe in any water that they have inside, to aleviate the mess, leave their water outside of the house in a run (fenced in play area). My ducks all lay eggs in nest boxes, for small ducks wooden clementine boxes from the store worked for us, but they are simple to build too, put hay, straw or wood shavings in them. Their water works best in uprite waterers with trays, I built wooden boxes with wire mesh on top and plastic in the bottom to set the waterers on top of so the waste water dribbled through to the bottom and could be dumped out, because ducks make mud and do whats called drilling (dabble bills in mud looking for bugs and roots) this is messy. Give them a bath tub of water outside if you do not have a pond, big tupperware bins work well, if you have a pond this is not necessary. Keep the house seperate from water as it will get wet and messy, and ducks will stay out in the rain, it is the wind they need shelter from, a dog house will work just fine if you have one handy or can buy one at the hardware store.
