hard candy easter eggs?

There has been several questions about the hard candy easter eggs that have icing sugar, egg whites, gelatin, glucose and colour in the recipe, but none of them have given the right recipie or the amounts. Many are confusing candy with Chocolate, I mean the icing sugar style ones. No chocolate and not pavlova. My mother used to make them but she dosent remember the recipe just some of the ingredients. I found the pages on the other questions about the sugar eggs but it is pressed granulated sugar. this is more liuke a hard icing. Please I am desperate to make these!

What do you mean by "hard candy"? Do you mean hard as in stiff, solid? Usually hard candy refers to a boiled sugar candy, like a lollipop or butterscotch disk.

One possibility is that they were made from a sugar paste or fondant?

Sugar Paste (Fondant White Icing)
750 g icing sugar
1 tablespoon gelatin
4 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon glycerin
1 egg white
3 tablespoons liquid glucose

Sieve icing sugar.
Keep aside.
Place water in a double boiler.
Sprinkle gelatin and keep stirring.
Add glycerin and liquid glucose to the gelatin.
Stir well.
Make a well in the icing sugar.
Pour the mixture in the centre.
Add egg white.
Knead to form a soft dough.
Store in an airtight container.

Another possibility is they were a form of divinity? Divinity is made with a boiled sugar/corn syrup mixture that is poured over stiffly beaten egg whites, then flavored. Gelatin can be used as a stabilizer. Color and flavoring are added before the candy is shaped.

DIVINITY PASTELS (Candy)

3 c. sugar
3/4 c. water
1 pkg. Jello gelatin (any flavor)
3/4 c. light corn syrup
2 egg whites
1 c. chopped nuts

Mix sugar, corn syrup and water. Bring to a boil over low heat stirring to dissolve sugar. Continue boiling stirring occasionally until it forms a hard ball in cold water (252 degrees F.) about 15 minutes.
Meanwhile beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Add Jello, 1 tablespoon at a time, beat until mixture stands in stiff peaks. Then pour syrup in a thin stream over egg white mixture beating constantly. Continue until it holds its shape and loses its gloss (about 10 minutes). Add nuts and drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper and allow outside of candy to dry. Store in covered container.

Possibly the candy could be rolled in the gelatin instead to form colored eggs?
