How do I repair my wood end table without having to refinish it?

I have pictures but am not sure if I can attach them here. The table is (or was) a high gloss wood but the surface is really scratched and there are a few chips on the side and on the legs. I would love to make this table look better without having to spend hours stripping it and refinishing it. If anyone has any hints, tricks or resolutions, please let me know. Thanks!

For fine surface scratches, we consistently hear great things about a scratch cover product called Tibet Almond Stick. It's inexpensive and very easy to use. So it would probably be worth a try. You may be able to find it at your local hardware or paint store, or you can order it online.

For the small chips in the sides and legs, a wax filler pencil, such as Minwax Blend-Fil will do a pretty good, if not totally invisible job. That would be the easiest solution.
