I'm going to Amsterdam for New Year's. What should I pack? What kind of clothes are in fashion there?

I'd like to know what kind of weather I can be facing. I'm from Chicago, so I don't mind a bit of chill or snow. Will it be windy in Amsterdam? Does it rain a lot at the end of December?

Basicly, it's cold but bearable. There is chance of rain. Long trousers, good shoes (water-resistant), sweater, gloves and wintercoat - and you'll be ok. Umbrella could be a good idea too. As to fashion, well, it's Amsterdam so you really have to put a fair bit of effort in it to look out of place. Actually, most people wear fairly regular clothes.
