How do I get the water into the H-Chew-O toy by Hartz? I cannot figure out how to unscrew the top!!?

I took vice grips and pinched the little thing on the end and unscrewed it.. It's in there tight so you need to squeeze it hard enough to compress the plug so that it can come out the hole.. It's like that so that the water won't leak out all over the house.
