When Little Red Riding Hood arrives, she notices various things that seem strange about her "grandmother." When she comes to that part where she notices the wolf's big teeth, the wolf grabs her and swallows her. Luckily, a hunter arrives and cuts the wolf open so that Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother come out unharmed. In other versions of this fairy tale, the grandmother has not been eaten but has been locked in the closet and the hunter arrives just in time to save Little Red Riding Hood from being eaten. There are various interpretations of this fairy tale, and many of them are sexually related.

The two vital components of the Little Red Riding Hood costume are the red hooded cape and the picnic basket where she carries the food that she is bringing to her grandmother. I sort of doubt that's flirting. I have friends both completely straight females and homosexual males that would say that in joking. Unless he's done other things int he past that make you think that he's flirting again - and not for the first time - try not to look too far into it as anything other than a joke unless he made some body language towards you or always puts his arm around you or made a gesture when making that "big bad wolf" comment.

It's just that the Big Bad Wolf is commonly associated with Red Riding Hood so a friend could easily say, "and I'm the Big Bad Wolf, ha, better watch out" when you mention that you're Red Riding Hood. See? It can be said in very casual and laid back context. So unless he made more of a gesture or has done 'flirty' things in the past, I wouldn't look too far into it because you could set yourself up and get your hopes up high for nothing.
