Laptop takes long time to boot if CD remains in drive?

I have a 2.0 GHZ with 2 GB ram in my laptop which i purchased a year back.I have everything working fine including the DVD drive.I have noticed recently that if i let the CD remain in the drive my laptop takes a long time to boot up (stucks at the black screen just before the windows XP loading screen) otherwise it boots up normally.My OS is update with latest definitions with regular AV scans.

The Problem Description :

While Start-up, Your LAPTOP first finds the OS,
In Your case, your laptop finds OS first in the DVD or CD
After that it checks your Hard Disk for OS

Now If you leave CD in Drive it will first check the CD then your Hard Disk
Otherwise it directly loads from Hard Disk

You can solve this, means you can tell your LAPTOP to boot directly from Hard Disk
You can do this by going to the BIOS setup

To enter the BIOS setup, you have to press DEL or F2 key (It may vary depending upon model)
when the BIOS screen appears

You have find out manually for this setting
Generally, it will be as First Boot Device, Second Boot Device

Set First Boot Device as Hard Disk
