Meet The Well-Known At Madam Tussaud'S Waxwork Museum

Initiated by the famous and enormously skilled wax sculptor Marie Tussaud, the Madam Tussaud's Waxwork Museum is situated in London with several branches located in renowned cities such as Las Vegas, New York, Berlin, Hong Kong and even Shanghai.

It was in 1777 that Madam Tussaud fashioned out her initial wax figure that was the sculpture of Voltaire. Making it through some challenging times, Tussaud opened her permanent museum in Baker Street, London in the year of 1835. The gallery that is open at present for public viewing was opened in 1884, thirty years following her demise. However, the gallery that we see today once had 400 original figures which were damaged as a result of a fire in 1925 and German bombings in 1941. Luckily, the casts of those original models endured and as a result they can be seen even today in the history exhibit of the museum.

The oldest wax figure at Madam Tussaud's Waxwork Museum is of Madame du Barry. Also among the very early sculptures are George III and Benjamin Franklin. The great wax sculptor, Madam Tussaud made a self portrait in 1842 which can be viewed at the entrance of the Museum.

Currently Madam Tussaud's Waxwork Museum is creating a lot of excitement and enthusiasm among the younger generation since it is now moving towards crafting out wax figures of some up and coming younger stars such as Lewis Hamilton.

However the most recent addition that took the world by storm is the wax figure of the newly appointed president of the United States, Barack Obama.

I read a lot, but I am not understanding content?

I really enjoy reading books, especially the classics (Hamlet, Jane Eyre, Madame Bovary, Animal Farm, etc). When I read something, it is difficult to grasp what I am reading. I don't know, which details are important and I forget details within minutes after I read it.

What reading techniques I can implement to improve my reading skills?

I just got done taking a Women's Literature class (it's VERY hard, but VERY interesting). What my teacher suggested is taking notes in the book (yes, writing in the book). You need to write you feelings, interpretations of what the author is trying to convey to the audience, impressions of characters, etc. She also suggested writing a summary after every chapter, if that applied (most were short stories). You also need to reread. Sometimes, you don't catch something.
