I remember both first birthday parties for my children as events which were truly momentous. Not that the kids will remember the parties, but the people who love them most in the world will. To me, this was actually a more important celebration than their christenings.

 

Here are some of the best tips for a first birthday party which you might like to incorporate into this very special day:

 

• Like all kids parties, it's best to plan for your first birthday party on a weekend to suit other parents. It's nice to be able to have both parents at the party if you can organise it.
• Make sure you factor in sleep times for the guest of honour. For my kids, early mornings or mid afternoon were the best times, but you will know your little one best. Don't let the guests dictate the best time for them, because you want your 1 year old to be at their best.
• Have a small guest list – with very few children. Just a handful of really important guests is the best way to go. Make sure that if you do have other kids there, they are fully supervised by their own parents to ensure you can concentrate on your 1 year old.
• Give your guests the time your party will end, and do keep the party short and sweet. One hour is about all a one-year-old can handle without getting overwhelmed by all the attention and becoming grumpy. I like to write on the invitations a start and end time, so guests know that you're planning only a short soiree.
• Serve food that the guest of honour and kids will enjoy too – usually finger food, little sandwiches, some "special" food like chippies.
• To help you manage on the day ask for help from a reliable friend or family member who can watch your child or entertain the little guests while you change a nappy, clean up a spill or play hostess.
• Make sure there are plenty of toys for the kids to play with. You don't need any organised games for this age group, but toys on the floor for different age groups, kids music, a DVD and some books are always handy to keep the guests occupied.
• Guests usually want to see the guest of honour opening their presents at a kids party. I used to baulk that this, but now think it's completely ok and super-fun.
• Do cake last so the guest of honour isn't a mess for opening presents.

Im having a victoria secret pink sweet 16 party and i dont have any ideas for my entrence! Please help!?

My party theme is the victoria secret pink line. The pink stuffed dogs will be on the table and the victoria secret bag will be on the table also and there will be light and hot pink roses in it. This party is very elegant. Please help with my entrence
