How do i tell if this doll is an original ?

I have a walking playpal doll (I believe) and I need to know where the markings are and what they look like to know if it's a real one.

Does anyone know what to look for?

I have a great link for you Doll Reference is the best there is, I use it all the time. I have been selling dolls for years and I do have patti's and the other members of the idea large family in all the time, and you have to know the difference between the re-releases and the old ones. Several companies besides Ideal made these large Play Pal dolls even Madame Alexander had Joanie and Janie (larger eyes) and Mary Ellen, and the off brands are nice as well and they are less expensive to purchase.

Ideal Family names, Patti, Johnny, Penny, Suzi, Bonnie, Peter, and a couple others.

Other companies were Alexander, Sayco, Eegee, and a few cloth that you could dance with.

There is a whole Patti Play Pal family with large life size babies and ones with curly hair, plus the boy who is very hard to find.

Here is the patti mark for the older one Ideal Doll Toy Corp./G-35 or B-19-1.

1959-1961 Patti Playpal, 35" tall, she is the same size as a three year old child, hard plastic joined at neck, shoulders and hips toddler body, vinyl head with rooted hair, sleep eyes, closed mouth, marked on head: Ideal Doll Toy Corp./G-35 or B-19-1. In 1982 they issued a black Patti Playpal version. Later issue's do not have sleep eyes.

Their were several hair styles and colors issued, as well as several family members at various ages, all made life sized.

Many other companies jumped on these large sized Playpal type dolls with their own versions, as they were so popular, some are unmarked or with different than Ideal's doll marking. Use our search button with the term "playpal" - to find other companies who made similar dolls
