Things To Consider Before Buying The Bell Motivator Indoor Bicycle Trainer

Like many others, I dread this time of the year. We're all eating more to shield our bodies against the cold, but the frigid air and frequent snowstorms (in my area at least) prevent us from getting exercise to shed the pounds. I enjoy cycling, but the sleet on the road makes it much too dangerous. I like staying trim, but I'm not willing to risk an accident for that privilege. Luckily, I stumbled across the Bell Motivator Mag Indoor Bicycle Trainer. Even when hail the size of fists are thudding down outside, I can still work up a good old-fashioned sweat to keep fit!

The Good

The concept behind this fitness product is pretty simple – it's a stationary bike stand that keeps your bicycle in place. Instead of spending a few hundred dollars on a fancy exercise bike, you can take your traditional one, park it in your living room and pedal away.

I'm not great with household chores, so I really appreciated how easy this bike trainer was to set up. I had it out of the box in a jiffy as there was no assembly required. It was also easy to use. All you have to do is park the bike on the platform, screw it on and you're ready to go. Rather than interrupt my husband's work to plead for help, I had the trainer working with minimum effort and needed zero assistance.

Many people have complained that stationary bike stands cause your tires to wear out easily. This was not the case at all with the Bell Motivator Mag Bike Trainer. Admittedly, I own a high-end mountain bicycle with expensive tire treads, but there was little visible wear and tear on my precious tires after a month of daily use. Still, given the limited width of the bike trainer's platform, I understand how inferior tires might well split and flake after intense use, so you might want to invest in a more expensive set of tires if you intend to use this product in the long-term.

Functionally, this bicycle stand was flawless. Even when I was going at a frenetic pace, neither the stand nor the bike showed any hint of wobbling. You can rest assured that this device is safe to use – even my five year old daughter is confident in using it, and I think this stand might be useful when I teach her to cycle in the near future! I assure you that this is completely kid-friendly, unlike many cheaper bike stands which are often of dubious quality and safety standards.

The Bad (only a wee one!)

The noise when you start picking up some real speed can be a bit much. But just treat yourself to some great sports headphones and you won't even notice.

Value for Money

Overall, at around 80 bucks this is a really great bargain. It gets noisy at higher speeds, but I don't find this an issue as I exercise with headphones on and music blasting. At such a great price, this is really nitpicking and I don't think most users will have much problem with the noise – after all, it's damn near impossible to find a silent bike trainer.
