How do I make Puerto Rican rice?

My husband is Puerto Rican but doesn't cook. I think there's something called sofrito in the rice? Help!!!
what is this sazon you speak of?

First of all, if you are refering to the rice with something in it you may want to call it arroz with whatever is it that you want in it like beans, pigeon peas, corn, salchicha (spanish sausage), etc...sofrito is a blend of red and green peppers, garlic, onions, cilantro and culantro too (both are green leaf) i add also some white vinegar, water, salt and chicken bouillon and taste as you go along. If you want to make, lets say rice and beans for about 4 people. Rinse 2 cups of white rice until the water is not so white anymore. Then in a pot (you know, you can always buy our aluminum pan as known as caldero which is the one that we make rice) you add about 3 tbsp on oil (i prefer canola because is healthier) then add about 2 tbsp of sofrito, 2 packets of chicken bouillion, rinse also the beans (don't use the water that it comes with), then add the beans. Add 2 1/2 cups of water, salt to taste, about 2 tsp of it and then add the rice. Stir and leave at medium high, let water dry and stir again and then cover. About 10 minutes later you can stir again and check that is not hard and give it another 10 minutes and that's it. If the rice is too hard add some water and cover but if its too wet for next time use less water, it's better to add than to take away. You can also measure if the amount of water its right if when you have everything together you put the spoon you use to stir the rice and put it in the middle and you can see about half of an inch from the rice to where the water mark is, if you don't have that amount you may need some more water. I make my rice eye balling everything so i did my best. With this recipe you can also add what i said before, pigeon peas, spanish sausage, corn, and many other add ons.
