"wild" rose, not rose bush by the kitchen door or bunch of roses in a vase on the kitchen table. The author puts the word wild in your head when talking about Catherine. The word "wild", and the word "freedom", have a connection, don't you think? What does the author want you think about when you think about Catherine?

Do you live somewhere with no flowers, or are you unfamiliar with roses? Light-skinned people can be described as having "bright" cheeks, meaning cheeks flushed with a reddish color. Roses are most frequently thought of in reds and pinks. Catherine was not using makeup to get this red/pink color on her cheeks.
