The Many Colors Of Wedding Gowns

The traditional wearing of a
bridal
gown is one of the most colorful part of every wedding celebration. Although most of wedding practices today wear white as their wedding dress, wedding gowns worn in the past before it influenced by Western culture comes in different styles, fashion, as well as tradition. However, most of these
bridal
gowns have been widely replaced by Western style wedding dresses. Nowadays, many women opt not to wear red and choose other colors. In modern Chinese weddings, the bride usually opts for the white Western dress or changes from a white gown to a red gown later in the day and sometimes a gold-colored gown later on.

In the Philippines, the wearing of Baro't Saya has been widely replaced by Western-style wedding dresses. In Japan, brides could still choose from their traditional kimono or the popular white Western-style wedding dresses. In Vietnam, although most have come to wore Western-style wedding dresses, many of today's Vietnamese has come to revive their old traditional wedding dress, the Ao-Dai. The ao dai is now standard for weddings, for celebrating Tết and for other formal occasions. Other than wedding dresses, the Ao-Dai is also commonly worn as high school school uniform in the South.
