Why I No Longer Have a Need to Talk Out My Problems - The Little Prince Series

Do you find you have a need to talk over your problems? Do you perhaps even like to talk about what's going on in your life?

While there are people who are quite quiet and reluctant to talk about themselves, a lot of us thrive on talking about ourselves. We simply have to talk out what we perceive to be "our problems" with someone.

We can't wait to share the latest thing that happened at work, what's going on at home, or the newest episode of drama in our relationship.

In my own life, I used to have a great need to talk with others about what was going on in my life. But as consciousness began dawning, little by little this desire to share my story with people—especially to tell of the latest drama—began to diminish.

In a most amazing reversal of how I used to be, I have actually become a quite private and quiet individual much of the time. Oh, I can still enjoy a party and be talkative. But in everyday life I enjoy silence and stillness a great deal.

If anyone had told me I would be such a quiet person several years ago, I would not have believed them. I had a burning need to talk about things.

It has become apparent to me that the more we allow ourselves to access the stillness of the universal Presence with which we are one in our essence, the more stillness pervades our whole way of being in our external world.

When we become inwardly still, so that we are present in each moment of our life, we no longer have a need to tell our story.

In fact our story becomes mostly irrelevant in comparison with the wonderful sense of Presence we enjoy each and every moment of the now.

The Little Prince is extremely slow to share his story of having come from another planet. It's not that he can't open up and share who he is and how he became who he is. It's that for him everything is related to the present moment. So he shares only what's required in this moment now.

Many people feel they just have to talk about whatever may be going on in their life, especially with their mate. If they can't express what they are experiencing, they feel like they will burst.

The need to talk can so easily become compulsive behavior. But talk as we may, we resolve nothing because we continue to feel the need to vent. Every time something comes up, we can't contain ourselves but have to talk.

What is required if we are to integrate what's happening in our emotional life is the opposite of talking. Containment is where integration of emotion happens.

When you feel like you are about to burst if you can't talk to someone about something, try sitting down, closing your eyes, and just being with the emotion that's welling up in you.

If you don't suppress and you don't vent, but instead become present with your emotions, you will find the sense of urgency to talk subsiding. After a little while you will likely have no need to talk. Or if you do wish to talk a little, it will be purely factual and there will be no emotional charge to it.

This is because the emotional charge has become integrated so that it's no longer blocked energy.

The Little Prince has some strong feelings going on inside him that are connected to his planet. But he is content to be with these feelings and in no desperation to talk about them.

Only what we resolve within ourselves truly furthers our growth . Containment, not venting to others, is the path to an integrated life.

How do you talk to your best friend if all she talks about is the things shes done sexually with her boyfriend?

yeah and bassicly i've never done those things and all she dose is talk about it and its getting me pissed. And also all she talks about is doing drugs and smoking but i dont want to talk about it. And its ever single convorsation she talks about having sex the things shes gave to her bf or the things he gave to her.

Maybe then you shouldn't talk to her until she will agree to talk to you about things you can BOTH talk about.
