What to wear to an informal chat?

Hi,

I've applied for a 6 week placement job at an Advertising agency. It's most likely to shadow the design team. They got back to me and said they would like an informal chat with me. In that case, what should I wear? I kinda made my mind up that im not going for shirt and tie option as that probably seems too formal. Would jeans be okay? What shoes are acceptable??

I think the "informal" applies more to the type of interaction, not the dress code. It will be more of a conversation as opposed to an interview. I think jeans would be too informal. If you're determined not to do the shirt and tie, can you do nicely pressed khakis and an ironed shirt, no tie? No sneakers, wear decent shoes.
