how can i make them sparkle more?

i made some pink stars out of fondant and added pink edible shimmer to some and silver edible shimmer to others, they are for my birthday cake, they dont sparkle as much as ive seen on pictures.....am i doing something wrong? i just brush it on after i make the cutouts...thanks for your help!
the stars on this cake look like actual glitter and mine just have a light glow......

If you are using a liquid (an alcohol based liquid such as lemon extract) + shimmer formula to bling up your stars, then I suggest you increase the shimmer ratio to get the desired effect.

While it is true in marketing they use all sorts of methods for pictures (i.e. Elmer's glue instead of milk on cereal box photos), what you see in the cake decorating books is real. You can achieve the look you want with a little trial and error.
