I would like to know a little more about mardi gras and the recipe for there special cake?

I have a friend who is really excited about mardi gras and this special cake and i would really like to make it for her. Can anyone tell me when mardi gras is where it takes place and the recipe for the special mardi gras cake

Sorry but you just missed it...It was Feb 23 this year and different places have different meaning for it...I am in south LA and for us it is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday...People here use to go around on horses in their towns collecting different ingredients for a gumbo...Because after Mardi Gras we are suppose to abstain from parties and meat on Fridays..as for the cake it's called a King Cake..don't have the recipe I get mine from a place called Meche's Donuts..(they do ship them all over) and tradition is whoever finds the plastic baby in their slice has to provide the next cake.
