Matchbox minature furniture,Homemade dolls house.. Do you remember???

When I was a little girl. many many years ago lol. I remember asking family members and neighbours to save there empty matchbox's for me. I used to stack and glue them together to make mini sets of drawers for my homemade dolls house. I would spend hours decorating them with left over wallpaper and used split pins for the handle's.
What I want to know is .....
What can i use instead of matchbox's...
I really want to do this activity with my daughters this weekend ( rainy day ) But i really dont want to go out and buy a load of matches just to get the empty box. There must be a way of making a similar box.. or a food product that has a similar box.
Any idea's please

i cant think of a single thing that comes in a similar box ! why dont you buy the match boxes, use the boxes for a dresser and use the matches to glue together little mini crafts - in place of popsicle sticks . that way you get two crafts to do together . light and blow out all the matches first , you dont want to use "live" ones to make kid crafts. enjoy.
