The Princess Quest

As one of the most iconic landmarks in all of London, Kensington Palace has added a few new exhibitions to their already vast, expansive collection. Recent renovations to the palace complex have resulted in a new burst of interest from visitors. The new theme for the renovations is "Enchanted Palace" and the focus has seen an increase in attention to the individual personalities, and the art and fashion that defined them during their residence at Kensington.

Visitors can learn more about the former residents with the new addition aptly named "Quest for the Seven Princesses", where visitors can learn about the previously unheard of stories behind their favorite Princesses.

Queen Mary II who reigned from 1662-1694 had an interesting story that began when she usurped her father's throne with the help of her husband. She promptly renovated and filled the palace with distinctive blue and white porcelain. Remarkably she had 17 children, none of whom lived into adulthood.

Queen Anne (1665-1714) was hugely popular with the public, but led a privately tragic life, with none of her five children living into adulthood. Then there is Queen Caroline (1683-1737) who cemented her legacy by patronizing the arts and advocating advances in the sciences.

By far though, the most popular of all the Princesses was Princess Diane, who died tragically at the hands of mercilessly pursuing paparazzi. It is her legacy that caused an explosion in the interest of the public in not only the lives of the royals, but also the lives of their up and coming generations and the stories behind them. Hers is the iconic storybook tragedy of beauty, grace, and tragedy.

It is exhibitions like these that encourage visitors to return again and again to the palace complex, and the only ones who get to take full advantage of everything Kensington has to offer are the ones who can manage an extended stay in London.
