From a lady's point of view, what is the "right way" to approach a random women?

Me and my group of friend are having an argument because some say vintage pick-up lines are best. Some say the bad boy or rap swagger is the best. But the "nice guys" say be polite(bulls**t.) So how you ladies like to be approached. There's a bet involved to. be honest not modest.

Personally, I like them to strike up natural conversations with me.
Pick-up lines, macho, bad boy, gangsta, rap swagger (or any overconfident bravedo), or anything remotely disrespectful is a COMPLETE TURN OFF for me. I'm ready to shut the person down before they even finish their sentence.
But if a seemingly clean cut guy is polite and tries to strike up a regular conversation with me, I'm perfectly happy to entertain him and see how things develop.
