Shabby Chic is the new vintage in Furniture Design

All the hipsters who shun their regular brands for their favorite vintage store have now moved on to the latest rage in furniture design, shabby chic. The distressed look for furniture looks like it has been handed down over generations and painted and repainted many times over and layers peel back to show previous coats by previous owners. Shabby Chic Furniture does not just look old but comes in styles that are seriously dated as well, with upholstery in fabrics and colours that aren't common anymore.

This need not be authentic and more often than not these days it probably isn't. What was started out in the beginning by starving artists and cool urban hipsters as a little counter culture to fight back against the trend of always having the latest styles and the most expensive and plush looking furniture has now been subverted itself.

Earlier people would scour attics and spend hours poring through garage sale looking for gems that could be restored, cleaned and reused but now an industry has sprung up around this craze and if you do not have the time or the inclination to go looking through smelly, cobweb ridden attics or hob-nob with weird people at some garage sale you can buy new cupboards that have been painted and repainted over and over and then sanded down and distressed to show signs of wear and tear just like the real thing. Some of the furniture makers go as far as making fine holes in the furniture that look like wood worm holes for a really authentic look. There are two ways of going about getting your vintage look on. Some hardcore fashion victims roll their own and even go so far as staining their own fabrics with tea or other colouring agents like bleach to give them that much vaunted look but new devotees of the shabby chic look can now buy furniture that look just as authentic right in the store itself even when brand new. You just need to know where to look and if you don't then just grab hold of the nearest starving artist with eclectic tastes and a hatred of mainstream trends and they should help you get what you are looking for.

Can Anyone help me find a Vintage Owl sewing Pattern?

I Have been looking for about an hour and I cant seem to find a pattern or even a how to, to make an owl doll/plush.
If you guys can't find Any owls an elephant or giraffe will do :]

Doesn't even have to be vintage really just cute and lots of colors and vintage print pattern.
