Dying/bleaching unsure of procdure?

I would like to die some patterened stockings/pantyhose which are black to green blue or yellow i am wondering how i could do it. I thought i could bleach them and then dye them but will bleach effect the stockings/panyhose in anyway. will it work or not? will i need "Special" dyes and bleaches??
